Epiphany by Christina Jean Michaels
Publication date: July, 2013
Genre: NA/17+ Romantic Suspense
>>Goodreads<<
>>Amazon<<
Synopsis:
“I had my first psychic dream when I was nine. Psychic implied power, and powerful wasn’t a word I’d use to describe myself. I couldn’t foretell the future or conjure visions at will, but I couldn’t think of a more fitting word to describe what I sometimes saw in my dreams.”

For 23-year-old Mackenzie Hill, tossing her life down the garbage disposal is easy after a painful incident shatters her life. Her heart is bleeding, and moving to Watcher’s Point is a chance to start anew, only she isn’t prepared for the guy who walks out of her dreams and into the flesh. Literally . . . because she’s been dreaming about this sexy stranger for years.

Mackenzie is even less prepared to face the dark nature of her dreams. They’ve turned disturbingly gruesome, full of blood and murder, and when they begin to coincide with the media’s headlines, she and Aidan realize her visions might be the key to stopping a madman from killing again.

Only Aidan has painful secrets of his own, and perhaps the biggest danger of all is falling for him.

Author's Bio

Christina Jean Michaels was born in Paradise, California, but she has found the true home of her heart in Eugene, Oregon where she finds plenty of inspiration for storytelling.

When she was young, her mother said she hated words. Now she can't imagine not writing. She became an avid reader when she was thirteen and discovered the world of Sweet Valley High. About a year later she realized she could play God and write about her own characters. She has been writing in some form ever since.

She lives with her husband and their four children—three rambunctious UFC/wrestling-loving boys and one girl who steals everyone’s attention.

“Front Page Fatality” by LynDee Walker

Summary

Crime reporter Nichelle Clarke’s days can flip from macabre to comical with a beep of her police scanner. Then an ordinary accident story turns extraordinary when evidence goes missing, a prosecutor vanishes, and a sexy Mafia boss shows up with the headline tip of a lifetime. As Nichelle gets closer to the truth, her story gets more dangerous. Armed with a notebook, a hunch, and her favorite stilettos, Nichelle races to splash these shady dealings across the front page before this deadline becomes her last.

Excerpt
I murmured agreement as the mention of the capital murder trial I’d spent the whole week chronicling called up unwanted impressions of the poster-sized, high-resolution crime scene photos the prosecutor left on display for the jury the entire day before.
It had been nearly two years since budget cuts (and a little finagling on my part—trial stories were bigger and often juicier than initial crime reports) had added the courthouse to my list of responsibilities as the crime reporter. It meant in- sane hours, but I didn’t mind, considering almost a third of our news staff had been laid off and I still had a job.
I’d dreamed of being a journalist ever since I could re- member. It paired my love of writing with the ability to do good in the world. I hadn’t yet developed the intestinal fortitude covering the Richmond PD often required, though, and the trials were worse.
Aaron promised I’d have my interview with him in time to make the first Metro deadline.
Lacking anything pressing to do, I called Jenna back to see if she had her heart set on anything special for our dinner date. I was in the mood for Mexican food. And a margarita. That damned trial had made for a long week.
“Nicey!” Jenna practically shouted the nickname I’d reserved for those closest to me since preschool, when a playmate’s speech impediment had dubbed me “nee-see” and my mom had turned it into an endearment.
“Anything good going on in the news today?” My friend’s tone came down a few decibels.
“There’s seldom anything good in the news I write,” I said. “But I think I might have something interesting. And Grant Parker is working on a great story about the women’s basketball coach at U of R.”
“Oh, yeah? And how is Virginia’s hottest sportswriter this morning?”
I laughed. “He seemed all right. And you’re still, you know, married.”
“Married. Not blind,” She said. “Speaking of my darling husband, I told Chad not to wait up, so we have no curfew. Have I told you how glad I am the baby isn’t nursing anymore?”
“Just now, or the other fifteen times I’ve heard that this week?”
“Only fifteen? And I thought I was excited about this.”
“I believe the word you’re looking for is ‘thrilled,’” I said. “Possibly even ‘euphoric.’”
She laughed again. “Euphoric. Yes. Has a nice, festive ring to it. Anyway, what do you feel like doing tonight?”
“Margaritas?” I knew Jenna was more interested in libations than food that particular day. “I want Mexican if that’s okay with you.”
It was.
Author Bio:

LynDee Walker grew up in the land of stifling heat and amazing food most people call Texas, and wanted to be Lois Lane pretty much from the time she could say the words “press conference.” An award-winning journalist, she traded cops and deadlines for burp cloths and onesies when her oldest child was born. Writing the Headlines in Heels mysteries gives her the best of both worlds. Her debut novel, FRONT PAGE FATALITY, is an amazon new humor #1 bestseller. LynDee adores her family, her readers, and enchiladas. She often works out tricky plot points while walking off the enchiladas. She lives in Richmond, Virginia, where she is working on her next novel. You can visit her online atwww.lyndeewalker.com.

Synopsis:
Twenty year old Emma hasn’t left the house since she was attacked as a child. Now, with the impending release of her attacker from prison, Emma knows it’s more important than ever for her to regain control of her life. From her unrelenting nightmares, to her strained relationships, to her crippling agoraphobia, Emma feels as though her life is spiraling out of control.

When her professor, Simon Anderson enters her life, Emma must deal with feelings she has never experienced before.

Though both she and Simon know their relationship is bordering on inappropriate, neither of them are able to ignore the intense chemistry that is quickly developing between them.

What was supposed to keep her mind off the attack has left her more confused than ever. When there are so many reasons why you shouldn’t be together, is simply being in love really enough?

Teaser:
I watched in horror as Tom answered the call. I threw my face in my hands and collapsed down onto the kitchen counter. This was bad. I tried to block out his voice. I didn't need to hear what he was saying to know I needed to be very embarrassed.

“Asshole.” I muttered.

“Hello?” Tom didn't even bother to hide his amusement. “Emma? Yes she's here. And who may I say is calling? Simon. Right, finally. I've heard so much about you. Em doesn't shut up about you.”

I groaned, stumbling to the couch. I was so embarrassed. This was really bad. I threw myself onto the couch and buried my head in the arm.

“Uh-huh. Right. Yes I understand that.” Tom nodded, his face serious, as if he was deep in the middle of an important meeting. “I do need to know what your intentions are toward my Emma. Are you planning on becoming intimate?”

“Fuck you Tom!” I screamed loudly. My face flamed. I wanted the couch to swallow me. I was going to kill Tom. It may take a while, years even, but he was going to pay for this.

“Right. Just be safe. And remember, if it's not on, it's not on.” He wandered out onto the balcony, knowing I wasn't likely to follow him out there.

Could this get any worse? I wondered how hard it would be for Tom to 'accidentally' fall over the balcony of my level 10 apartment with me still standing within confines of the apartment.

“Sure, I will put her on.” I felt the phone hit me on my back. I reached behind to grab it. I contemplated hanging up. This was beyond embarrassing.

No. That would only make things more awkward. I would have to speak to him eventually.

“Hello.” I mumbled, cringing.

“Well hello there.” He said, amused. Way too amused. He was loving this.

“Hi.” I responded, feeling embarrassed. And angry. I was so fucking angry.

“So, Tom seems like a nice guy.”

“Tom’s a fucking asshole.” I yelled, loud enough for him to hear. Tom yelled back an inaudible response.

Simon chuckled.

Q: Today’s is the US’ Independence Day. Share your favorite book with a war in it, or an overthrow of the government.

I'm not a huge fan a war books, but my choice is Hunger Games and The Healer Series by Maria V. Snyder. I know it's all fiction, but there's still some fighting in it :)
