Review: Ghost Hand by Ripley Patton

Ghost Hand by Ripley Patton
Genre: YA paranormal
Released: November 28th, 2012
Publisher: Self-published
Pages: 372
Series: The PSS Chronicles #1
My Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5

Synopsis

Olivia Black just discovered that her ghost hand, a rare birth defect, can do more than light up a room. It can reach into people and pull things out. Things from the darkest depths of the human psyche never meant to exist in this world.

Olivia can pickpocket the soul.

But she can’t control her ability, or the strange items it extracts, and the only thing between Olivia and the men bent on taking the power of her hand is a boy she barely knows and doesn't trust.

What I liked

Ohhhhh, I cannot even describe how much I liked this book. I sat down and read this book within few hours. When I finished I was like, OMG I need more, NOW! I adore the whole plot, and the originality of it. I mean, at the beginning I even believed that PSS is an actual illness, heh. It's very well written. There's extreme amount of action (Guns everywhere, and I'm not kidding you!), which I totally loved, but there is also humor and romance in the book.
Characters are just lovely. The author has made each of them very special, their stories are incredible. I was so drawn toward Marcus, even though he made some very crappy decisions. Marcus for me resembles someone like Jace Lightwood( Mortal Instruments Series) or Kerrick of Alga( Healer Series), so yeah, I feel like I do have another book crush( and to be honest I do have very few book crushes. Way to go Marcus!)
I was stunned with amount of independence that Olivia has, she's very strong, and loyal to her friend Emma. I also liked other guys in PISS Camp, can't wait to know how Jase - Olivia relationship will develop later on.

What I didn't like

I can only think of two things, that weren't completely how I would want it.
I wanted little more romance and more details on Marcus and Olivia's relationship. I mean it was OK, but I would like a little bit more of that in the book.
I also wished that the cover of the book was different, because I think this one just doesn't do it justice. That's why I give it "only" 4.5 stars.

Overall thought

I'm in love with this book, and I would recommend it to anyone with passion for YA, paranormal, romance books. Story line is very catching.
I would love to see this book as a movie. I think it would be very interesting how they would pull off some of the things described in the book.
I have a problem though, I cannot even wait for sequel, that's how addicting this book is!
